Power Women or Clever by half women? 300 market women shut down EEDC offices over epileptic power supply

Background

  • 300 market women and men mostly traders dealing  in perishables at Ezeiweka Awada, Idemili North Local  Government Area, Anambra state staged a protest because of epileptic power supply and exorbitant billing by Enugu Electricity Distribution company, EEDC.
  • The protest became necessary because according too them, the poor power supply is affecting sale.
  • The Network Manager, Operations, Mr. Christopher Ezioma, addressed them and  promised to resolve the issue but that pre-paid meter would  be installed for them first. This they rejected with a thunderous NO insisting on the post paid meter and low billing.
Our take on the matter
  • They sure deserve stable power supply especially because of their businesses
  • They do not want prepaid meter so they can continue to 'tap' and do illegal connections and not pay for power they they use? Just asking.
Conclusion
  • There are always at least two sides to a story. Were they really protesting because of poor electricity supply or because of the planned installation of prepaid meter?
