All Ye 'Yoruba demons' where art thou? You can now begin to corporately express yourselves as FG approves Mondays and Wednesdays as Nigeria Dress Days

Background
  • From TVC news, we learnt that the Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the adoption of Mondays and Wednesdays of every week as Made-in-Nigeria dress days.
  • This approval was contained in a letter from the Ministry of Information and Culture,and addressed to the Executive Secretary of the National Institute for Cultural Orientation. Part of it reads thus;
“The Federal Executive Council (FEC), at its meeting of Wednesday, 1st February, 2017, has approved the adoption of Mondays and Wednesdays of every week as Made-in-Nigeria Dress Days as part of measures to uplift the nation’s culture and promote Made-in-Nigeria textile products”.

Our take on the matter
  • We imagine going to the banking halls seeing flowing 'agbadas' and the likes on Monday mornings.
  • We imagine an applicant for a top notch executive position wearing a beautiful 'iro' and 'buba' to an interview.
  • We imagine school children on the assembly ground on Mondays with colorful native attires all competing for attention.
  • We can only imagine...
Conclusion
  • How this will be adopted in the corporate world remains to be seen.
