3 TIMES IN A YEAR! WAEC announces the approval of one more diet for exams

“The council, after painstakingly considering all ramifications of the matter, has finally given approval for the national offices to begin the conduct of one additional diet each year of WASSCE for private candidates.’’ -
Iyi Uwadiae, Registrar West African Examinations Council

Background
  • WAEC usually conduct examinations twice a year. MAY/JUNE and NOV/DEC (for private candidates). The examination body is now adding another diet to give private candidates more options.
  • The council’s registrar, Iyi Uwadiae, announced the approval at a news conference in Lagos.
Our take on the matter
  • This is to all students: there may be as many diet as possible in a year but the most important thing is to PASS your examinations and not just be a perpetual WAEC customer. Sit up!
  • If first you don't succeed, dust yourself up and try again...no crime in that.
Conclusion
  • Good move by WAEC. I hope JAMB will be proactive because it will have a ripple effect on the number of candidates seeking admission to tertiary institutions.
